Biography

Hello, my name is Rada Culciar.

I teach violin at the Meridee Winters School of Music in Philadelphia, and am a double major at Temple University for violin performance and music education. My students all love me and can’t believe how much fun violin lessons can actually be. I was born and raised in Romania, where I started studying violin at the age of 7 in a music school. After moving to America with my family I continued my studies in California and Pennsylvania. I have won numerous regional competitions and have always been one of the top players in orchestras. I was even lucky enough to have toured Europe twice with the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra. I hope you consider me as your new violin teacher!

Thank you for your time!

Radar Culciar

Rada’s musical career began in a music school in Romania where, as a first grader, she had a teacher examine her fingers to see if she could be good at the violin. He said yes, and as she puts it: “the rest was history.”

After moving to the United States, she continued to study violin and piano through high school, also performing in the Reading Symphony Junior Orchestra for three years, and the Youth Orchestra for four. In this orchestra, Rada held strong positions such as assistant and associate Concert Mistress for three of the 4 years of attendance.

In addition to placing in multiple scholarship competitions, Rada has taken part in performances for Music Celebration International in Austria and Italy and performed as associate concert mistress in the 2004 Conference for String Education and Chamber Music. Rada has performed in cities such as: The Czech Republic capital of Prague, Italian cities Rome, and Pisa.

Rada is pursuing a dual degree in Music Performance and Education at Temple University, and has been teaching private piano and violin since 2011 at the “Meridee Winters School of Music”. She has also taught and helped establish a music curriculum in Jamaican parish of Portland in 2012.

Rada has performed on stages such as the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA, and Carnegie Hall in New York, NY.

While in Philadelphia, Rada performs in string groups and bands through various companies.
